Nyasa HickeyNyasa Hickey graduated magna cum laude from the State University of New York at New Paltz, where she earned a B.A. in English and Black Studies and a minor in Law and Politics. Prior to joining the NYU Center for Dialogues, Nyasa worked at the Workers’ Rights Law Center of New York, where she provided legal support for low–wage migrant workers and received a Global Studies Award to participate in Bard College’s Globalization and International Affairs Program (BGIA). As a component of the BGIA program, Nyasa interned for the international branch of Planned Parenthood of New York City, Margaret Sanger Center International, where she developed an analysis of women's health organizations. Her areas of interest include international conflict, women’s empowerment, international law, and African culture.
